Have you ever been in our district?  It is urban, suburban, exurban, and rural.  It encompasses 3 counties.  Cook and Chicago are trying to impose their will on the 2 other counties over an airport among other issues.  It is very complicated.

They have both been great on progressive issues for a very long time.

Daily Kos is turning into a bunch of people with a litmus test.  Why is this any different from Tea Partiers against any taxes/revenues?

There is a primary - why are you so scared of it?  If your district is as you claim than they should be able to win the primary or are Halverson and Toi splitting the NRA vote? Then maybe the NRA should call them up and have one or the other drop out.

Cook/Chicago imposing their will by voting in a primary and supporting a candidate that doesn't have an A-rating from the NRA that is now standing up and arguing against common sense changes that could go a long way in getting the guns off the streets of Chicago?

Keystone XL Pipeline - Canada gets the money, Asia gets the oil, America gets the toxic refinery pollution and potential for a pipeline leak ecological disaster.

And any candidate with an "A" rating from the NRA is wrong on that issue and wrong for the district.  At best, they should STFU and represent the needs of the district.

      Yeah, democracy is horrible!

Not to mention, your argument seems to be that Will County should be able to "impose" it's gun views on the bulk of this Chicago-based district. That's patently ludicrous.

      •  Okay Markos, let me get this straight. (0+ / 0-)

The right to keep and bear arms, something over 30% of democrats support, should be the left's red-line litmus test issue for all Democrats.

I'm sorry, but in my humble opinion, that's just plain fucking evil.

Let's see here. Out of all the myriad of social, criminal-justice and economic issues with broad public support that matter to the lives of everyday people, you and the Orangemen pick the Second Fucking Amendment as the one issue worthy of party purges.

Great! You're finally rolling with the Big Boys, where there's no shortage of party bosses hand wringing over the statistically insignificant chance some crazy will shoot up a bunch of white banker spawn or bravely fighting for the rights of gays and women to shoot brown people for Halliburton, Exxon and Goldman Sachs.

Meanwhile this same class of New York working, Connecticut camping, dot-com and derivatives pimping Bloomberg Dems insist that middle-class non-government and non-FIRE workers who make less than six figures deserve only lip-service, gutted laws and legislative kabuki to address the myriad of financial sector fraud, a nascent police state, reproductive choice being limited to a one-sided political football match, drone wars on more brown people and repeated assaults from large public and private entities on working-class pocketbooks.

"More and Better." Heh, so-far it's "More and Better Bullshit if you ask the dwindling middle-class who has to tolerate two-classes of police protection and civil rights enforcement.

I'm sure many here would happily take Mike Bloomberg's, Chris Dodd's, Mitt Romney's and Rupert Murodch's idea world as long as some child adopted by two investment-banker daddies is provided a mere illusion of protection from getting their face blasted off by some other bankster's woowoo son.

I'm sorry but reads like nothing more than the upper-class liberal's more roundabout and Politically Correct version of 'Fuck you, I got mine.'

Well fuck y'all too (no pun intended). For one, in the face of a government, that at every level, would leave everyone making less than six figures to rot, many are more demanding than to simply give up their right to self-defense in exchange for measures addressed exclusively at soothing the nerves of the privileged classes.

It should be abundantly clear after a half-century of brown-citizen disarmament in so-called Democratic strongholds, that keeping non-gang members in poor communities from purchasing their own protection emphatically does not protect them from gang violence.

It's so funny it hurts, keeping Ms. Jones up the block from having some protection when her son is not home is going to keep firepower out of the hands of dealers that move tens of thousands of dollars of junk into some Uptown bankster's orifices in a fucking month.

It's so sad that it's funny. Nowhere in your over-privileged, well-guarded non-police-harassed liberal's mind can you imagine these enterprising street criminals getting their weapons, illegal hi-cap mags and 'assault ammunition' the same way they get their drugs to self-medicate some asshole bankster or technology executives' pathological narcissism.

Meanwhile, Ms. Jones - who is simply trying to get to her job and not get robbed or raped - is simply fucked. But that's okay as long as little Skyler's two daddies feel all warm and safe inside.

Either way, the illusion of safety will last only until the next economic and/or global-warming induced tidal-wave rolls in. If and when the Shit Hits The Fan, I don't expect protection from the pigs, er, I mean police, who will be paid well to guard Bill Maher while he's fucking Ann Coulter and leave the rest of us poor little people to to our own devices.

I'll take care of myself because at the end of the day no one else will do that for me, and I hope you do the same. So, to complete the circle, Fuck You and all you sheltered, self-serving, political assholes. I finally have mine, and with full capacity magazines. Peace.

The whole decade needs an asterisk.

When she ran for IL-11 and when the social conservatives attacked her as a slut because she has, and has publicly said she has, HPV.

I could understand an A rating with the NRA in the old 11--not in the current 2.   All this hand waving about IL-2 not being a liberal district is nonsense.  No district is conservative with nearly 80 % Democratic performance.

This is a District for a progressive and there's a great one running--Robyn Kelly.  If the people in Will don't want a progressive, they are free to vote for Debbie, but that's not the majority of that District.

Oh, and I have been there. In fact, I was born there.
