  •  Update from Durham Town Admin-- (9+ / 0-)
    Dear Members of the Community,

Durham has fared well to date with Nor’easter Nemo.

Our outstanding staff at the Public Works Department, who have been out clearing roadways constantly since early Friday morning, report all local and state roadways are open.

There have been no power outages in Durham.

There were no mechanical breakdowns of our snow fighting equipment.

No significant accidents although one car did slide off Route 4.

DPW crews will remain on duty until the snow ends later this afternoon.  They will then make a final pass through town, apply sand to address slippery areas, and will then be sent home so they may clear snow around their own homes and get some rest.

We will keep limited staff on duty to address drifting snow banks in historically problematic areas around town.

Residents and businesses will notice large piles of snow in downtown Durham.  These will be cleared over the course of the day tomorrow (Sunday) and Sunday night.

Roadways in and around Durham will likely remain snow covered and in “rough” condition but they will be passable and are to be addressed again on Sunday when our full complement of staff returns.

If you believe others in the community would find these updates useful, please don't hesitate to pass them along.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
