  •  We had a huge blizzard in DC on President's day (6+ / 0-)

weekend 1979. We got about 2 to 2 1/2 feet of snow and 8 to 10 foot snow drifts. We lived in a single story ranch house and on one side of our house, the wind was coming in at such an angle that the drift was literally higher than our roof line! We had fun climbing up the drift onto the roof and jumping off (and no, Mom was on the other side of the house clueless ;) She was soooo pissed because she had just bought a brand new 1979 Mustang the day before and she couldn't drive it for about 10 days.

We had had a mini Schnauzer named Muffin and my Dad had dug a maze of trenches for her. She was not a happy camper!!
