    Since F.E. Smith (Earl of Birkenhead, but he was only a recently ennobled lawyer/politician) reformed English land law, in the mid 1920s, it is only moderately incomprehensible. I am sure I understood the subject when I studied it at the College of Law, Guildford in the 1970s.
