  •  people don't get hired for being fat all the time (11+ / 0-)

    it's not hyperbole

remember when Bill Clinton said that Obama couldn't win because he's black?  remember that?  remember what that said to black people everywhere?

remember when it was said about Hillary because she's a woman?  and what that said to women?

how about gay people running for office?  could a gay person win the Presidency in 2016?

oh, wait, i forgot, being fat is something people choose not something they are born with, so, you know, it's okay to discriminate against them

    my bad

Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?

    •  Go back to the premise of your argument? (5+ / 0-)

Someone can't be POTUS because they are morbidly obese/obese/overweight,therefore you are telling me I can't do the same because I share this characteristic with Christie correct?

Red Herrings all around in your response, you are diverting from the reason why this topic was brought to the front page in the first place.

BTW, I am an African American woman who voted for Obama in 2012. So what are you trying to say here:
remember when Bill Clinton said that Obama couldn't win because he's black?  remember that?  remember what that said to black people everywhere?
You are taking this too personally Anton. No one is telling you, you can't do anything or that you are less than anyone else. THAT IS what the election of Obama taught me. If you are fit enough to run (physically, mentally, emotionally) and have a message that wins over voters, you win. Christie has none of the three.

to score a cheap under the belt political hit on an extremely popular Republican governor of a very blue state

that's all this is about for the front page.  they are afraid of Gov Christie.

the fat jokes were something else.  they were just mean.  they were as mean and wrong as jokes putting down people because of race or religion or sex or sexual orientation.

i said this above.  of all the ways to discriminate, weight is the most petty and shallow.  it doesn't matter who is engaging in it.

go back to the premise for your argument not the FP. I presume you know that you are deliberately throwing red herrings into the discussion?

Like I've said before. People aren't attacking you personally. The story about Christie has nothing to do with us. People in general should not comment on other people's weight, height, looks etc. but when that person decides that they want to run the country for 4-8 years we need to talk about everything from his bad attitude to his regressive policies and any personal factors. For example, Obama was a smoker, his health and lifestyle habits were an issue and he ended up quitting. Christie can be a role model for millions if he wants, the same way Obama did.

I worry about him being inneffective or dying in office. I was equally (perhaps more) concerned about McCain because his melanoma history was not clear to people who had the hour he gave them to look at his medical records (metastatic melanoma is almost sure killer).

In one way in your diary it' s clear you are not in denial of the effects on your health. That is a good thing. Please them make a leap to Christie who's prospective job is as stressful as it gets and whose temperment in handling stress really doesn't seem that great.

That people said nasty things about fat people is a separate issue that is valid.
