Try WeightWatchers.  It works for me and it's not about extremes, it's just about incorporating some thought into what you're eating and doing.

Not punitive, always supportive.  And you'll be surrounded by folks who know EXACTLY what you're going through, because they've all been through it as well.

Second, fuck people who think Christie can't be President because he's fat.

Losing weight too quickly is likewise not healthy.  If Christie were to lose a ton of weight in order to prove something to doubters, he would likely gain it back (the majority of us do) and then he'd look like a fail, even if he wasn't.

Meantime, we supported John Kerry, who actually had cancer during the campaign, and no one thought McCain was not eligible because he has skin cancer (which is not minor by any means).  Roosevelt's health was not good but he kept getting re-elected until he died in office.

Any candidate might die in office.  That's why vice president matters.  You can't plan for every eventuality.

We elect people for their policies, don't we?

Yes, the President's health is our business.  That's why we get to hear about their physicals.  We should take their age and health into consideration.  But it shouldn't disqualify anyone unless perhaps they have a prognosis of three months or something.

Meanwhile, the democratic candidates we're looking at for 2016 are in their late 60's/early 70's.

My guess is that, statistically, someone in their 70's has a higher chance of dying than someone in his 40's who is overweight.  I don't know the stats, it's just a guess.

I'm sick of fat jokes.  I'm sick of the way I got every job I interviewed for until I put on weight, or how much more difficult it is to find a partner.  One asshole in particular said "If you lose weight, I'll sleep with you."  I was a size 8 at that time.  Didn't want you to touch me anyway, dickhead, but thanks anyway.  Ugh.

There are many reasons not to vote for Christie, but being overweight should not determine his eligibility.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. Barack Obama

Most importantly, Weight Watchers. You don't have to go to meetings if you own a scale and your head is in the right place. What I like about the program is that you can eat anything, that's anything, you want. If what you choose uses up all your points for the day you're SOL, but it's your choice. I chose a very healthy combination of foods because I control diabetes with diet alone. And for my daughter, we did "fast food Wednesday," meaning I made chicken wings and fries, or tacos, you get the picture. And she was allowed one 7oz can of Coke. We were only hungry for the first week, but could have avoided that by filling up on veggies. I have fun finding new recipes, and tasting new tastes. Here's a great site. I've tried many, many of her recipes, and have only been disappointed once or twice. And she gives you point values for everything. You can find the calculation to determine your point allotment online. Not on the Weight Watchers site, but somebody has it.

As far as being fat causing difficulty getting and keeping jobs, it happens all the time. Like all prejudices, nobody tells you, but you just know. And it sucks!
