  •  Nothing to report.... (14+ / 0-)

I went to my little special place yesterday but there wasn't thing moving, no birds or squirrels, nothing.  It was just cloudy, cold, and really windy.  I don't get there as often as I used to, so I was disappointed.  Perhaps there will be some activity next week.

I'm heading down to the river to see if there are any eagles left.  There were a bunch of them cruising below the dam last weekend, but we're definitely inching toward Spring here.

sounds interesting. Might you tell us more?

I had to go way off the property to have a smoke.  Across the parking lot and driveway, there is a green space that was supposed to be a supermarket.  When that didn't happen, they just left it.

There is a culvert that drains from the parking lot into a little valley.  The resulting rivulet has trees and bushes on both sides, attracting a variety of wild life in the middle of town.  I saw my first ruby-crowned kinglet and dark-eyed juncos there.  There are little ground squirrels and a huge groundhog.  In the spring, the elderberry flowers make the place smell like heaven.  In the fall, the abandoned apple and pear trees provide a sweet treat.

I'm not teaching now, but each year, the band teacher has me back to play accompaniments for her kids' solos.  It's always early in the year, but if the sun is shining and it's not too cold, I can sometimes catch sight of a critter or two.
