Bill won in a three way; remember the Ross Perot fella. It was supposed to be a trial run for Bill. His predecessor, George H. W. Bush, was being attacked by the conservatives, and my recollection was that George couldn't make a case for his reelection, even with the win in Iraq. The fact that Bill was able to operate at all in his first term was pretty amazing, but I do believe that he was his own worst enemy in the second. Some successes, a peace dividend and plenty of failures.

Sixteen years go by, the demographics have changed to be quite a bit in favor of the Democrats, thanks to Latino's, and this gave Barack an edge over the Republicans.

I really see each in terms of the time they served, but even then, I'll let historians evaluate them comparatively. Frankly, I have to say that I'm a fan of neither. That said, I do find that Bill is a much more interesting speaker.

      Quite an understatement.

Bill was a great president, but blew it (no pun intended) in his second term but not allowing his legacy to get Gore elected.

Yes, Florida 2000 still gnaws at me, but Gore should have won by Obama-like margins, if not for stains of the Clinton years (okay, that pun was intended).

Obama needs to get a Democrat to take over in 2016. There will still be much work to be done and plenty of repubs who will want to undo the Obama years. 2016 will decide if Obama has better legacy then Clinton.
