    Who's going to manage the database, and will there be any money for enforcement? If we can't properly fund agencies like SEC and IRS, to say nothing of the ATF, then promises to perform background checks are less than impressive, especially if conservative offers of support are predicated on the legislation getting gutted at appropriations time.

      If we want background checks and I have no problem with that, then we have to tie it to those who vote for them to fund them.

      ...crucial, too, like getting back to keeping background check records more than the 24 hours they are kept now. It used to be they were kept for 90 days. Even that isn't long enough, but it would be an improvement over the current situation.
