has several Big Red Buttons which would make him very dangerous to perpetrators of certain behaviors

    Child Abuse (sexual or physical)
    Domestic Violence
    LGBT Bashing.

He was himself a victim of being beaten as a child, and saw his siblings and mother beaten by his father. He's had friends who were raped, and GLBT friends who were bashed.

Why do our laws not reflect that? Why are we exposed to violence that will automatically produce social instability when we know how to curb them?

My usual thing to say at this point is follow the money. I guess letting the police take everything a drug dealer owns does have a bearing on what laws they enforce.

prefer it that way. Not all men, but a lot of the White Christian Conservative ones   vote for Reublicans  who kowtow to them. It's the notion from their version of the Bible that women are stupid and easily led astray and the only way to guarantee they don't cheta on you, is to be allowed to beat them into submission.

RICO statutes suck in my book. Too many of the people they're used against aren't drug dealers or criminals but ordinary citizens who are never charged.  Now if they'd actually enforce them against abusers and rpists--I'd be thrilled.
