  •  Sometimes this little spot can be an anomaly. (7+ / 0-)

For instance, we get a lot of snow where hardly anybody else does, or vice versa. There are actually a couple of separate micro-micro climates here, parts of the land that are degrees warmer or cooler than others. And it can get humid here, with the cedar bog and the pond as well as being a mile from the Sound. This peninsula seems to have a number of interesting little climate variables. I love it here.

Why are war casualty counts "American troops" and "others" but never "human beings"?

There are still piles of snow in the gas station parking lots around Hoodsport.  You are in a warm spot.

It's been  fairly normal in Sequim this winter.  We will likely get a surprise whalloping snowfall at some point - it has happened as late as Easter in prior years.

I am grateful for the weather as I have a horse this winter that has to have her hay soaked in water.  That chore is zero fun in the snow.

Plants here look normal right now - a few buds and the grass is growing all winter as it usually does.  There is a big difference in daylight between February and January and that seems to stimulate growth more than temperature alone.  The Salish Sea area is one of the mildest climates in North America in the winter.  You have me curious - I'm going to check my power company records to see if it is warmer than the last few years; seems it's about the same and I've been out here 12 years.
