knowing that, even though the human race remains bogged down in trying to keep "everything the  way it was"  (from demographics to porkbarrel politics)  nature is evenly keeping up with the changing climate mankind has wrought. Times of dormancy, ranges, regional species mix, extinctions and blossomings -- all wondrous signs that the non-human part of life, the plants, insects, mammals, fish, are all adapting and moving comfortably into the "new normal", or dying out with its coming. And we, the "intelligent" species, refuse to change:

"It's colder than it used to be." "Turn up the thermostat."
"It's hotter than it used to be." "Run the A/C longer."
"My house was washed away in a storm." "Rebuild it in the same place."
"This area is running low on water." "Pipe all you want from somewhere else."

I don't think, regarding AGW, that man can  be considered "intelligent". Rather, as my biologist friend would put it, it's more like "selected against." Apparently the only distinction that "intelligence" bestows upon a species is it extincts itself faster than it otherwise would. Not an experiment I see nature repeating in the future.
