    I remember it well. It was around then that wages did not keep up with inflation. Wives and mothers HAD to go to work outside the home just to keep the family afloat.

    Since then I've met very few women who had a choice of whether to stay home or go to work.

    And never forget that in the black community it was often only the woman who could find a job.....almost always as a domestic. And that 'working class' families often had both parents needing to work.

    So, can we lean on the Conservative Women to join us in lobbying for a living wage for family wage earners?

    That way somebody might be able to spend more time looking after home and family.
