  •  I'll take that as an attempt (14+ / 0-)

to make me smile. It worked for a brief, shining moment.

I have tears in my eyes, reading this shit. I can't believe he's gonna do it.

I've been writing to him every day for a number of weeks now, begging him,  please don't do this! I do it politely, not once have I flamed out on him or acted like a TEABAGGER!!!!!!!!!1! I continue to ask for a reply each day. I have yet to receive one.

Shows you how much he cares, huh?

    •  Let's see what kind of trade-offs he gets. (1+ / 0-)

Holding the benefits to Medicare, including cheaper prescription med's, will offset the small (and it is small) decline in SS with an index change.  Obamacare will add other benefits to medical benefits.  What other benifits do we get in this "Big deal" proposal?  He's been pretty clever at making deals so I'm willing to wait until the entire proposal starts getting debated before getting critical.

      •  You'll have to pardon me (12+ / 0-)

if I'm done giving this man the benefit of the doubt.

Neither Social Security OR Medicare should be on this table. Period.

If Obama gets the cap lifted on the FICA to include all income (including interest, dividends and capital gains from financial instruments, less a nice sized exemption for everyone that would help the poor and middle class most), a one shot 30% boost in benefits, and a chained CPI that is the E version (E as in elderly) I will be content.

OTOH, at Daily Kos, if Obama pulls this off he will be castigated for
        a) not having done it sooner,
        b) for NOT including climate change legislation,
        c) for having AGAIN put off delivery of our flying cars in every garage, and
        d) we would have got ALL that stuff if only Hillary would have won in 2008.

        Sigh.

        Shalom.

      •  CPI is small unless you consider inflation. (2+ / 0-)

Inflation is slated to create a false stimulus as soon as CPI is passed.  Wall Street wants the false stimulus without the fed increasing outlays especially to the non-productive.

      •  One of his proposals is raising the Medicare (1+ / 0-)

premium on the top 25% earners.

According to Kaiser Health News, in today's dollars, that would dip into the range of approximately $40,000 annual income.
Please, don't listen to 'talking points.'
And don't you just love how "rich" is now $40,000 annually, instead of $400,000 to One Million Dollars, when the Administration is talking about "taking away benefits!"
