  •  You're giving him a lot more credit than he (3+ / 0-)

deserves.  He's certainly not trying to get young people to think about single payer.

    •  He's not advocating the solution... (0+ / 0-)

as we might see it, but he is promoting thinking. I don't see how that is a bad thing.

he's making the conclusion for young people that the ACA "screws" them.  It's the opposite of thinking.

        •  Ok. (0+ / 0-)

There are many ways to look at things. Just how does ACA NOT screw them? In some ways, depending on how one defines fair billing practices, ACA totally screws them as it bills them for services their age group will not incur.

Anyway, I cannot attest to just what Smith had in mind when he penned this piece, but it is not an attack on the values of people who value ideas and thinking and fairness. It's a perspective. It's how things look from over there. And it is valid to a point. It's just part of a whole lot of input that determines policy. I've been waiting a long time to hear this sort of thing from younger journalists. I was delighted to read his piece today. Not agreeing with everything idea on his part, I salute that he is calling his generation to think, engage, and participate in their own futures. That cannot be bad thing.
