  •  Thanks for bringing this up. (12+ / 0-)

I have republished to Native American Netroots.

    •  We don't just have unresolved Civil War issues (6+ / 0-)

but Indian Wars too. Prejudice against our tribal peoples is being heated up again in WI, for corporate profit and political gain. This keeps recurring here, whenever they can push the pendulum of poliltics their way.  This nighmare of Billionaires (and whomever they can muster as political lackies and militant volunteer supporters, hoping for some piece of whatever pie is served) versus original peoples, rich in lands and traditions and respect for the earth shared with all living things.

That GOP crowd is always trying to chip away at native American 'rights', entitlements, treaties, that 'insane' (to the GOP) notion of 'sacred lands'--always seeking new ways to go about denting, eroding and eliminating tribal rights every time they can. They are always fanning hate, prejudice and intolerance as a means to their end, and bully their ways into place. The lingering, embattled GOP majority in Madison will circle their wagons and try to give away as much as possible to their real constituency--the corporations, and, well, it's just being practical to them--they'll just have to take away as much as 'necessary' from the tribes in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, and get it done all in order to help their steadfast, resolute Scott Walker 'deliver' on his jobs promises.

The GOP version of 'forward' requires tossing other folks backward and under the feet of those they 'represent'. And it is felt to be so very urgent, something for mining just has to 'get done'--especially before the GOP/ALEC might lose full control of WI's legislative and executive power, or the feds step in and do something rash--that Obama just won't stop meddling in state's rights.

That not all they care about of course, since they'll be eager to put a smack down on reproductive rights for impudent women in this session, too. Can't have the women forget they're really still minorities too, living at the pleasure of real men, and as such all need to be under God's ordained order, where his favorites, the hardworking deserving white old guys, are on top, and those silly notions of equality, tolerance, special treatment for minorities and political correctness are all crushed as liberal craptrap and lies. So many people to put in their place and so little time, and whatever they do might be undone later...what's the GOP going to do? As much hard to reverse damage as possible? That does seem to be the plan.
