More and more these diaries are becoming as bad as the right wingers themselves.

If you read Margaret Sanger's books, there is no ifs, ands, or buts: the woman is definitively a proponent of eugenics.  In her book "The Pivot of Civilization", Blacks, Hispanics and Jews are singled out as being of inferior genes and she calls for their numbers to be reduced.

In the quote above - the diarist is also being misleading, not providing full context. Yes, it is wrong to take just the first part of that sentence out of context. But give the full context of the full sentence:  it is not about "delivering birth control to the Black Community" - that letter clearly calls for the reduction of the Black Community - the goal of introducing birth control in that letter is to reduce "inferiors and undesirables".

    Other quotes of hers include:

"The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it. "

"It is a vicious cycle; ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only one cure for both, and that is to stoop breeding these things. Stop bringing to birth children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them."

Planned Parenthood does great work, and does not reflect these prejudices of its founder. But let's not whitewash the truth.

Liberalism is trust of the people tempered by prudence. Conservatism is distrust of the people tempered by fear. ~William E. Gladstone, 1866

    •  I agree with this but, based on the provision of (0+ / 0-)

adult time and resources rather than race.
Children should be morally born into optimal conditions for their well being and development.
