  •  They'll have to sue to get the state to take note (12+ / 0-)

Cuomo makes me ill.  He hands out small candy on progressive issues and makes plans to destroy our water, the new oil, I might add.  He makes a point of studying bull shit dated material on fracking in order to justify doing what he damn well knows is wrong.  I'm not convinced he isn't worse than Pataki.

work very well for him, since they don't cost a penny. And while I'm not minimizing the importance of, or my pride in, being a citizen of a state that stands for marriage equality, the safety of the water supply of 10-15 million people is pretty significant. I don't trust him as far as I can throw him, and I never did.

is not a contained asset. That is, we don't have the whole picture of how water travels underground, especially when you add in the fracturing of the shale, creating new pathways for the water to migrate.

Chemicals injected in the Marcellus Shale region, which covers most all of the western schnozola of NY and curves downward into Pennsylvania, could travel very long distances, depending on how the shale fractures. Toxic biproducts could travel for miles surrounding the shale. It just can't be predicted where it will go. A great portion of the northeastern US could be impacted.

Add the fact that the region of the Great Lakes and New York's Finger Lakes contains about a fifth of the world's fresh water supply and you could be impacting the globe.
It's just too large and precious a resource to take chances with for the sake of profiteering.

Cuomo risks saddling himself with the legacy of one of world history's most loathed men, if he gives the go ahead for fracking and a worst case scenario becomes reality. His name could become despised. And deservedly so.
