Gawd how I wish I had been able to buy a house in the 90s.  They were dirt cheap.  Now, here in Taos, New Mexico, $215,000 will get you no more than a double-wide....and I aint putting my money into that!!

I grew up in Santa Fe. When I left there in 1998, I was still living at home because I couldn't afford to buy (median price was $250k, and anything in my price range would have to be condemned!) and paying $800/mo for a tiny studio apartment was ridiculous. Moving to Denver was a better move for my wallet.

Now I live in ABQ. We bought a nice place about 18 months ago and it's already appreciated around 25% based on current sales in the neighborhood.

If I could have bought in Santa Fe in the 90s, I'd be rich!

Where are we going and what are we doing in this hand basket?

a few weeks ago.  Some friends bought a gorgeous house with a nice bit of land there in Ridgecrest.  210,000.

210,000 in taos gets you a trailer - and a shitty one at that.

Locals cant afford to live in Taos.

BTW - has there been any talk  of a NM Dkos meet up?

        •  There have been a couple of meet-ups (none)
in ABQ, but I haven't heard talk of another one in quite a while. There were a couple of folks from up north at the one I went to.

There's an area to sign up for NM Kossacks, but I think of where it is right now. I'll look around and see if I find it.

It would be fun to schedule a picnic or something in the summer. Hopefully, were not too far flug to make it happen.
