    But something definitely did happen at the Black Sea when the water rose. It's just a question of what.

    Whatever did happen, it was localized to the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions. Places where the refugees did not go would not have heard about it and would not have been affected. There were other places where the remaining melt from the last ice age would have caused significant sea level rise over time, but nothing so sudden as when the Black Sea filled to current levels.
