    Like any battle, its confusing as hell. everybody only sees a small piece of it, nobody really knows whats happpening untill after its over.
    these reporters are crouched down behind cars a quarter of a mile away, theyre hearing fragments on a police scanner, theyre trying to figure out whats going on while theyre trying to tell you whats going on.  They probably went with what the police told them. (same as it ever was!)
    No wonder people eff it up. One should always take preliminary battle reports with a VERY large grain of salt. And later ones also. We always gave ourselves the benefit of the doubt during debriefings.

    When I lived in HI  during the 70s, my best friend/roommate was a DJ on KPOI. I'd go down and visit him at nights and during the breaks we'd stand on Kalakaua Avenue picking up tourist chicks. He had a big convertible and I had a Sedan De Ville
