  •  Tim Geithner is (0+ / 0-)

    an independent, not a republican.

And what do you know about Hagel's loyalty tpwards Obama?

      1.  Geithner is registered as independent, but was former Republican...basically like Hagel at this point.  He is still essentially Republican.

      2.  I know Hagel didn't endorse the President in either election.   Pretty sure Susan Rice took hit after hit for the President and was one oh biggest surrogates in 2008.  Are you trying to imply the Hagel has been more loyal to Obama than Susan Rice?  Or even Tom Daschle for that matter?

Hagel's wife endorsed, but Hagel didn't have the political guts to endorse, and yet he is rewarded.  Doesn't make sense to me...

I don't think it was a matter of political guts. I think it was out of loyalty to McCain, a very well "rewarded" loyalty I must add.

As for Rice... I don't know... there was AFAIK never any official confirmation that she was going to be the nominee, was there?

        •  I think the fact that she went to the Senate (0+ / 0-)

to do the rounds was basically confirmation that she was first choice.  It was only after that day that the rumors of Kerry came out.

She was the choice, and the three amigos used Benghazi to trash her.  She fell on her sword, but was less deferential than Hagel was (which btw I think was somewhat due to to how Rs reacted to Rice).  And the President decided he didn't want the fight.

Well guess what he got.  The fight.  And now, it is for the White Male republican who people could care less about outside of the WH, vs what would have been Republicans threatening to filibuster an African American female at the very moment the were trying to reach out.

It was a poor strategic decision, or worse, the WH was manipulated.  Now was the exact time to put on a show about Republican obstruction.

But hey, that is my opinion.
