*Dems go on the teevee and whine about how the Cons are making us unsafe

    *Cons bluster

*Media starts to ask why Cons won't approve Hagel.

*Obama points out that it's a travesty that Cons won't approve defense pick, compares it to how they defunded State Dept which led to lowered defenses in Benghazi.

*Cons have egg on their face

*Media smells blood in the water, does their thing

*Dems bear down and make impassioned speeches

*Cons lose last fig leaf of respectability on defense and have nothing to say on Benghazi ever again.

    *Cons drop hold

    *Filibusted

*McCONnell decides to pick his battles better next time, goes back to his terrarium and pouts under his lettuce leaf for at least 6 months.

    •  Your dream & McConnell's nightmare seem realistic (0+ / 0-)

to me if the McConnell cannot find five Repub Senators to vote for cloture while allowing the others to pretend to want to extend this suicidal filibuster.

For these reasons, I think he will find the necessary five, and he will owe them a favor, although he may publicly condemn them.

Things would really get weird if one or two Democrats voted against cloture, forcing McConnell to find six or seven votes on his side.

Support filibuster reform by adding $0.51 to all contributions!

    •  That would assume..... (0+ / 0-)

....that Dem's would be coordinated and passionate in their message.

I'm sure gonna wait for that to happen.
