    And nothing will happen in the House unless Speaker Michael Madigan assents. As far as I know, his position on marriage equality remains to be determined.

    Anyone following the doings in Springfield should bookmark and make The Capitol Fax Blog a regular stop on your e-rounds.

        I have no doubt that we'll get marriage equality in this session. I just don't think it's going to be a slam-dunk.

        Marriage equality certainly deserves a straightforward vote in the House, but given the state's budget and pension tsoris, I won't be surprised if it becomes a bargaining chip in those negotiations, or gets set aside until the final end-of-Spring Session rush in May.

        If there's one thing to remember about the General Assembly, it's that anything can happen at any time ... right up until the final gavel slams home in May.
