  •  I'm thinking that Fox News' ratings are down (11+ / 0-)

because of the burned diehards not wanting to see Obama at all, not because of the shrinking base of the GOP or people who liked Fox walking away forever because their cult has been shocked into serious thinking. They don't want to see him. He's not their President. They didn't vote for him, so, he's not their President. Click.

Too many liberals are invested in the notion, like the endless search for a "serious" Republican to make them feel confident that things aren't as bad as they seem, that America is going to finally collectively wise up.

America has been failing to wise up to the rich man's scam since the day this nation was founded. If the Great Depression didn't break the Right forever, nothing will.

We should be careful about reading too much into the decline of Fox News immediately after such a crushing psychological loss, both the White House and the Senate was 100% guaranteed to be theirs... and it didn't happen.

Ratings for basic cable news are overrated anyway.

Old Matlock and Murder She Wrote Re-runs soundly beat first run Fox News programming even at the very height of the post-911 America Has It's Collective Brain in the Pickle Jar for Bush years.

The wingnuts are the ones butthurt, and, like babies, they are going to pout and wait for something to impeach Obama over or wait for the "sure" Senate re-capture in 2014.

    They feel lied to.

Dick Morris. Karl Rove. Sean Hannity. Mike Huckabee. Sarah Palin. Fox News was a 24/7 "Obama is about to get crushed" recording.

I'd say this was a break, more than demographics or Fox News going under.

All they need is a good scandal to stick, and Fox News will be back in business with the rubes glued to their sets dreaming of President Ted Cruz and Vice President Michelle Bachmann coming into town in 2016 in a 45 state landslide over Hilary Clinton and Michael Moore.

I have yet to meet a Freepi wingnut here in Nevada who was not 100% sure that Mitt Romney, who they hated but accepted as a necessary evil for 'teh beatdown' to happen, was not only going to win, but win by delivering a Nixon '72 squashing of Obama.

That kind of faith-based self-destructive delusion born of resentment and fear will be back in white suburban America soon enough.

We have to hope that people of color prove to be vastly more capable of seeing the Right for who they are, and how their agenda is horribly bad for the middle and the bottom, then poor and middle class white people who have spent their entire lives thinking that by kissing a rich man's ring, and hating who the rich tell them to hate, they will be rewarded by the OverClass with showers of gold instead of showers of piss.

I am from the Elizabeth Warren and Darcy Burner wing of the Democratic Party

18-49 demographic! So, why did 47% more want to watch Obama on Fox last year?

Once you vote smart, you never go back. Four more years!

    •  I think this is largely correct (0+ / 0-)

But I will say that the Great Depression DID in fact crush the right, for a long, long time.

The US House of Representatives was in Democratic control from 1931-1995, except for 4 years.  Hard to blame people for forgetting something after 60 years (and after the Democratic Party itself seems to have forgotten many of those lessons).
