    Lost one of my best friends years ago to breast cancer. She switched to some alternative treatments after doctors at Duke gave her less than six months and that only with draconian treatment by them. She lived a few more years, marrying her boyfriend and moving to the beach in that time. She snuck out of town with her beau, telling only me and a few other friends. As she said, "I've always wanted to live by the ocean, and now is the time." She was thirty-nine when she died, but packed more into her life than many who live twice as long. What I've learned from multiple close death experiences - live life well.

    Also, I had stage IV melanoma and was given less than a year by six doctors. That was around twenty-five or so years ago. Never give up hope.
