    Triple your chances that someone will pay attention.  Hard to say who is worse - cable, phone or utility companies.  

    One of the fall hurricanes a few years back knocked out power in our area.  We have buried lines in our neighborhood so the power was up in a few hours, but in an older neighborhood down the road it obviously took a bit longer.  Three days after the storm a HUGE plywood sign calling out the power company showed up at the entrance to the neighborhood facing the main street.  You could even see the downed lines from the street.  I noticed it took less than 24 hours to get the lines up and power restored to them - and the sign down. Squeaky wheel and all that.

      The cable company is a monopoly and thinks service is something they do to you rather than for you. The phone company spent billions running fiber by every house in the area but refuses to actually run it to the Chez. The electric company believes it can save money by not putting the poles in the ground another foot.
