    My money is on someone a generation younger. Maybe Gillibrand, maybe Schweitzer? If you look back at past predictions for Democratic presidential nominees 3 3/4 years out, you will not see the name of the eventual nominee on anyone's list (well, maybe Mondale). We'll end up choosing the person who's the strongest candidate two years from now.

    Not like the Republicans, whose next nominee is usually a shoo-in. I've been easily picking them correctly, 3 3/4 years out, since Poppy Bush. In fact, one reason we might give some credence to the idea of a serious GOP fracture is that, for the first time in 35 years, they have no obvious nominee waiting in the wings. There will be factions, and blood.
