    It's not about "stranding the troops in the field," it's about bringing them home and ending the war.

    And if you think the President and the military commanders were willing to strand them to make a political point, then there were far worse problems than the question of continuing the war or not.

    Government and laws are the agreement we all make to secure everyone's freedom.

      I am stating an actual fact:  NEVER has congress voted against funding while troops were deployed.  Even in Vietnam when an open hostile debate was raging about that war and our involvement in it.. we NEVER voted against funding.

      Im not saying the war was right or that I support (or supported it) but that is the history of Congress.

      And your main point was the filibuster.  Outside of troop funding, we filibustered a LOT.  The GOP didn't start floating the nuclear option because they were bored; it was because we kept blocking things they wanted.  What brought it to a head was Leahy's fights on the Judicial Nominations, but there were a lot of others.  Some we won, some we didn't, some we compromised on.
