    •  perhaps, basically they are small scared people (10+ / 0-)

for whom time has moved too fast, for whom things have changed too rapidly for them to adapt.  Even more important, they have bought into the American Dream and are slowly realizing they are excluded from such things.  It is frustration, fear, and hatred you are hearing

      •  I'm sure there are many different reasons (6+ / 0-)

Your description certainly fits some of them. But not all. There are many different types of people with different agendas and ideologies crawling around the Tea Party Republican Party.

Those people varied as they may be, those people at that school screaming, what they all have in common is their racism.

I voted for the human beings.

        •  racism is shorthand for the emotions those (0+ / 0-)

people feel and for how they see the world

There are kind and gracious people in the Tea Party. And, just as I have nothing in common with the "activists" trolling their web sites with grossout gay porn, those folks feel no camaraderie with racists and itchy trigger fingers.

Because their trolls are so aggressive and visible to them, it is easy for them to believe their trolls represent all of us on the left.

Just as we are drawn by the visible and offensive tightie rightie fringe to believe they represent everyone on the right. They don't.

I think the Tea Party worked as well as it did in part because they never had a manifesto, so little aggregations of some wildly different people could coexist around a picnic table full of broad generalizations.

Now that they lost one, and big, the activists among them want to get down to cases, make a plan and not just noise. They are finding out that, for some of their folks, a plan is mostly about preparing for a big race war. For others, a plan is mostly about taking over the Republican Party. For still others, a plan is mostly about praying to Jesus.

They are discovering that they have not even arrived at Square One. I expect a few more loud noises and not so many people showing up for them.

          After that, all is footnotes.
