  •  Crud, now my kids have to get an IDP? (0+ / 0-)

My dad had to get one back in the 1970's to drive in Ireland - he picked it up at AAA.

But my son lives in Canada now and he and my daughter in law come to Florida every year for the veterinary conference in Orlando and then they rent a car to come down to Miami to see the family.

He grew up here and learned to drive here, he knows how whacked out FL drivers are.  My daughter in law lived her for 2 years during her vet internship.  She had a temporary FL license.

Naturally, now they live in Ontario, they had to surrender their FL DLs to get an Ontario license.  Now they have to get an IDP to come back home to visit family?  It's not like we drive on the other side of the road or anything.  I drove around up in Canada when I went to visit them and even rented a truck so we could haul some stuff home from the Home Depot that wouldn't fit in their car.  I drove the truck with my FL DL and my FL insurance card.

I guess I need to tell them about this, or they won't be able to rent a car when they fly down.  They're only here for 10 days, so they fly, go to the conference, drive up to Ocala to see my mom, then come down here for a few days to see everybody else.

He's a US Citizen living in Canada - he's a FLORIDIAN living in Canada, why in the world should he have to get an IDP?  I live in the stupidest state in the country.
