Well, I'm on a movie going spree.  Last night I went to "Die Hard 5" (Horrible)

    And today: "Beautiful Creatures"

Having read the book, I've got to tell you it is one of the worst adaptations of a book I've ever seen.  Major details.. significant, game changing major details are changed or completely re-written.   Some scenes remain faithful to the book but the rest is whole cloth.. and really, really badly written whole cloth.

A person in the theater next to me asked what I was thinking "How could they think about sequels when it's this messed up now?"

This makes Simon Birch look like an exceptionally faithful translation.. and I don't even mind Simon Birch as a "loosely based on" (at least it acknowledges the differences up front and doesn't claim the title)

it looks like it's supposed to be Twilight with witches instead of vampires.

It was a sixteenth birthday present for one of them. No points for correctly guessing which one.

My wife said it was mostly OK and she would have liked it a lot better if she hadn't read the book first.

If you can't say anything nice about the GOP, please post here more often.

I might have appreciated it.  Though the male lead was so wooden it made me think SW prequels
