    David Foster Wallace's essay "A Supposedly Fun Thin I'll Never Do Again." It's about his experience on a cruise. I never laughed so hard in my life, while cringing. I think he captured the cruise experience perfectly.

    Google it, I'm sure you can find a copy of the essay online somewhere. Or hit the local library -- it will be well worth the effort.

      favorite, rather biting quote is:

      There is something inescapbly bovine about an American tourist in motion as part of a group.  A certain greedy placidity about them.
