    coast guards to operate.  

    I would prefer Carnival pay rather than the U.S. taxpayer.

      they're a branch of our military.  They guard our national coast - hence the name.  We have a LOT of coast to cover and not nearly enough Coasties.  It's a  lot more than towing cruise ships and citing drunken boaters.

      And we sail and we sail and we never see land, just the rum in the bottle and a pipe in my hand...
