    not commercial services. Nevertheless, the service has to be paid for through taxes which republicans want to dismantle, but want their rescue services when incidents like this occur

    Of course there was money spent by the government, by the Coast Guard.  That's why we have a Coast Guard.  As a life saving service they showed up, in our name, to serve 4,000 stranded souls most were American.  Since they mostly seemed to be just standing by, Carnival benefited, at best, in an incidental way.
