    An hour to block everything in, another hour the next day to adjust edges and paint the details.

    Though I should probably tack on another half hour for color mixing. Usually I start by toning the canvas with a warm color thinned with Gamsol and add a few indications of major masses, then spend about a half hour mixing small 'puddles' of paint for all the colors I'll need to block everything in. By the time I'm done mixing the colors, the toned canvas is dry enough to dive in and paint.
