    A block away from some of these boardwalk-facing casinos are some areas that are pretty tough.
    Granted, AC had a lot of issues before the casinos came to town.  But the people were sold a bill of goods.

    The promise of tourists bringing in business for local shop owners, diners, dry cleaners, etc. has never materialized because the casinos don't want their customers leaving the presmises and provide all kinds of shopping & services to keep them there.

    If Atlantic City is going to thrive, I think it needs to change from a "gambling destination" to a destination that also provides for gambling.
    Agreed.  I just wish that seemed possible, given the negative momentum.  I hope I'm wrong, though -- maybe Sandy money will  help if it's used wisely and with clear eyes.
