  •  Am I misunderstanding the article (0+ / 0-)

    in the link totally?

It says the program is ending because insurers aren't allowed to deny folks insurance because of pre-existing conditions starting next year?

Does that not negate the reason for the high risk pool?

    •  The high risk pool ends Jan 1, 2014. (3+ / 0-)

BUT they are now saying the pool is no longer taking applications as of now, thus precluding people not already in the program from getting coverage from March-December, 2013.

      Make sense?

coverage due to a cancer diagnosis last September? They would have been eligible for the high risk pool in March. Now they are told to pound sand until January - is that acceptable?

Are their lives statiscally insignificant? Such a small group just doesn't matter?

How do we reconcile judgments like these when at the same time we have allowed the FED to send TRILLIONS of interest free dollars to the banks to shore them up in spite of their criminal behavior? And we can't find a few paltry billion dollars in unused funds that were designated for something else but somehow never got used. Is something really really wrong here?
