  •  This is why healthcare should never be "insurance" (5+ / 0-)

Insurance is for cases where you don't know the bad thing has already happened yet, so that everybody in the pool is covering each others' risks.  Only in healthcare do you have a case where insurance is used for already certain payouts and thus the system breaks.  You can't get retroactive insurance in any other field.

You can't take out a new car insurance policy and try to use it to retroactively cover the damages for the car accident you already had last week before you got the policy, for example.

This is what is broken about using health "insurance" to cover the costs of medical care: It's not really insurance in the traditional sense when for some people the need for a payout is already guaranteed.  And this is why ACA is still a band-aid that doesn't solve the problem inherent in the corrupt system.

This insurance is referred to by them as a product. Various players will offer their products to compete. In this way free markets will determine the best value for each heath care consumer. In this health care dystopia, giant buildings would battle for dominance in the field, hoping to topple the others.

So why can't they have a grown up conversation about how to deliver health care to people?

A true craftsman will meticulously construct the apparatus of his own demise.
