The same people who think that Obama already sold them out are all over this diary like cockroaches willing to smear Lew ...

HR me all you want, but those of you that smeared him based on some ill-substantiated conspiracy are worth less than the dust on his feet ... IMHO of course!

I'm of the opinion that much of vitriol aimed at "bankers" is thinly-veiled anti-semitism. I'm of the same opinion regarding the vitriol directed at Mr. Lew over completely false claims.

      •  Criticism of bankers is anti-semitism? LOL (8+ / 0-)

The "vitriol" directed at bankers - really at the high level executives of the TBTF banks - results from the fact that their negligence and criminality wrecked the economy and cast millions into poverty.
Not to mention that some non-negligible percentage of bankers is NOT Jewish.
Your accusation of anti-semitism is stupid and contemptible.

        •  Now we can't dislike bankers (3+ / 0-)

          •  First of all, why would you dislike an entire (0+ / 0-)

category of people? Why would you argue that any category of people is, ipso facto, unlikable?

Secondly, why is it so hard to name names? If you want to change the culture of corruption on Wall St. and in Washington, why use such an ambiguous term as "bankers"?

There are actual people and institutions that are corrupt and should be held to account. Name them. Why use the term "banker" at all?

For that matter, Jack Lew has never been a "banker" in the strict sense of the term, so I don't understand why the term is relevant to this discussion at all.

And yes, there are many who believe that banks are controlled by Jews, and that Jews have undue influence over our government. The term "banker" is, in certain contexts, coded language. If you don't know or understand that, you need to; because that kind of bigotry corrodes real and honest criticism and diminishes its impact. If you do know that, and you're nevertheless complaining that your speech is being stifled, then you're part of the problem.
