He's dedicated his life to the Church -- and no, he's not in it for the little boys. I don't think he believes it's all nonsense.

If you don't get anything of value out of Christian symbolism, fine. Different strokes for different folks.

because they've made such a difference in my life and the lives of my family members. This was the priest who officiated at my brother's funeral, among other things. I'm sorry that the hierarchy has such corruption in it, but I'm glad that there are still good, dedicated people at the lower rungs. To think otherwise would be like being sorry that there are people who care about being US citizens, just because we have a lot of creeps in positions of power in Congress.

with your analogy as it has always presented the Catholic Church as ABOVE any mortal political institution.

Anyone who still walks through the doors of that church or tithes to it is enabling the corruption.  Especially those "good, dedicated people".

We're all enablers of genocide because we pay taxes. I don't think that's the case. I don't want to say you're stumbling on logical fallacy but you're tiptoeing it.

            •  We have to pay taxes to the government (0+ / 0-)

              because it's mandated by law.

People are totally free to walk out the doors of the Catholic church and end their support at any time.

              Not a good analogy.
