  •  Rubio is essentially done. I was surprised that (2+ / 0-)

Republicans picked Rubio for SOTU response since he has pretty much lost his usefulness for Republicans (especially after more Cuban-Americans voted for the Democratic presidential candidate than for the Republican one - the first time ever!) and I expect he will be getting the Colin Powell treatment any day now.

How do Republicans keep finding Blacks willing to do their bidding, women willing to do their bidding, Hispanics willing to do their bidding and many other "undesirables" (to them at least) willing to do their bidding - until they are no longer useful and get more than dumped, usually excoriated and debased.

How do they keep finding people that are not just willing to serve the master, but ready to be excoriated and humiliated by the master?

Then they came for me - and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.

For whatever their reasons, and that's fine. Some of them stick to their principals throughout their political careers and are honest brokers.

Those who have aspirations of higher office, they are the ones who do their bidding. But the same could be said of any republican at that level. They ALL have to sell their souls, and reject everything they ever stood for that doesn't meet the test of ideological purity. Just ask John McCain.

I'm sure none of them go into it expecting to be excoriated and humiliated. And honestly, the only ones who do get that treatment are the ones who slip up and start acting "too black" (a la Micheal Steele) or dare to buck the party line (Colin Powell)

The rest of them just get their own shows on Fox and get paid handsomely, as long as they stay on script. I suspect that's where Rubio will end up eventually.
