  •  Another smart move by President Obama (3+ / 0-)

The Hispanic face of the Republican party has just been forced to publically oppose immigration reform.   Any and all credit and political benefit for reform will go to Pres. Obama and the Democrats.

There will be reform.  That's the delicious irony.  The Republicans have to vote for  reform and their establishment knows it.  It might not be the comprehensive, progressive version we're hoping for but  they're doomed if they do and doomed if they don't.  It may take more than one vote, over more than one year to get it all done but it will happen.

In an altruistic world, we'd all get together and do the right thing, but in this real world, the Dems will get the best that they can and take all the credit.  It wouldn't surprise me to see Boehner forced to pass the bill through the House with Democratic votes just to keep his party on life support.

This is absolutely delicious.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with gaining a political advantage by doing the right thing.  Maybe next year we'll hit them with Puerto Rican statehood.

Always grateful to wake up alive.
