    'immigration system is broken' the adopted line of reform advocates is helpful to the diarist, it just repeats the talking point that s/he is trying to understand

      nightmare that can take decades to gain citizenship. Families are arbitrarily disrupted by this.

      While this is going on other immigrants are lured into taking jobs here on special visas at shamefully low wages for their professional level. These unimaginable wages are set so low so no professional in the US will not take the job. And the ones that do are easily turned down. SO they import workers dependent on the company to maintain residency which at best is akin to indentured servitude. So corporations are manipulating the visa system to drive down wages in competitive fields.

        nightmare waiting decades for citizenship are here legally I believe. There is no path to citizenship for those here illegally and if I am not mistaken that is what the diarist is asking about.
