  •  Yeah, cardiologists suck... (0+ / 0-)

The first one I went to, he seemed like he was in a hurry from the moment he entered the room.  I could also tell from his demeanor that he thought he was so smart, and I as the patient was sooooo stupid, which I find ironic because in my case I wouldn't be surprised if the reverse is true.

He started examining me before even letting me finish telling him the symptoms I was experiencing (not a common cardiological problem), then seemed annoyed that I kept talking.  He ordered some basic tests that in my opinion did not fit with my complaints at all, and told me he needed more info.

On follow up he basically told me my tests were normal and showed me the door, saying I should "monitor" my condition.  The only reason I understood my test results at all was because I learned how to interpret them online.  WTF?

So, I monitored my condition for a few month, and it kept getting worst. I went back to the cardiologist and he did the same exam as before.  As soon as he started, I knew the result, which was that it wouldn't find anything.  I was very assertive with him this time, because I refused to just let this asshole roll right over me.  Of course, it got me nowhere.  I asked some questions and he literally refused to even answer to explain his reasoning.  He told me he couldn't help me and I should see another cardiologist, which was probably the only thing we both agreed on.

Unfortunately, I saw another cardiologist and I didn't check her reviews until the night before.  I'm glad I did, because I was prepared when she basically accused me of being a hypochondriac and treated me incredibly rudely for the entire appointment.

I think too many people become cardiologists because they have an overinflated sense of their self worth.  They are intelligent to a certain extent, but not the overwhelming geniuses they seem to believe.  Probably their arrogance only gets more inflated having to deal with a lot of dumb people all day long, but that doesn't mean they are really smarter than everyone they see.  And even if they are, that's no excuse for treating people rudely and refusing to explain anything.
