  •  Mr. L & I were among many ... (10+ / 0-)

... who were telling everyone we knew before the 2000 selection: please, don't vote for Bush/Cheney because they will take us to war in Iraq.  Only a handful did not dismiss us.

Oh, no, we were told: we must be paranoid.  When we tried to direct them to the PNAC web site, we were told that everyone has a right to an opinion and PNAC's goals meant nothing.

On 9/11, after we figured out Plans A, B, C & D for the next few days (I was working on a contract in Boston three hours from home), we wondered how long it would take before the Cheney maladministration found a way to pin it on Iraq.

And of course they were working on that the very same day.

The whole run-up to war we knew they were full of shite, and we wrote letters & made phone calls to our congress critters, but we were just a couple of ordinary people not privy  to the kind of classified information to which the NSA and the Congression & Senate intelligence committees had access, so what did we know?

We will watch Rachel's show tonight, but my stomach is already in a sickened knot remembering how frustrated we were at our inability to make any kind of difference for all that time.

No doubt we'll learn even more BS reasons why this horrible thing happened, and we won't feel any better about it.
