And has he indicated he'll look into it?

He used to head the state party.

Bernhard's name gets thrown around for a lot of offices: there was a little talk of him running for Senate in 2010 against Vitter.  He'd be a good get but I've seen no sign he's interested in running for anything anytime soon.

      •  I heard differently (5+ / 0-)

He is the former CEO of Shaw Group, what was Baton Rouge's only Fortune 500, before selling it late last year to CB&I.

He's much better suited for a governorship than a Senate seat. There's been a fair amount of rumbling in Baton Rouge about him wanting to run, especially with John Georges staying kaput after purchasing The Baton Rouge Advocate from the Manships.

Now that he's out of a job and sitting on a mountain of cash, it makes a lot of sense. He'd be able to connect with the LABI/Chamber type people, as well as lots of folks in BR/river parishes/NOLA that Dems need to win.

I think he'd arguably have the best chance to win save Mitch Landrieu, but I seriously doubt Mitch leaves New Orleans before finishing a second term.
