Already in many places and growing.

Texas City to Charge Car Accident Victims Up to $2,000 for the Cost of First Responders
A suburb of Houston will charge drivers up to $2,000 to respond to crashes.
Ahhh, remember when a percent of them taxes paid left one unworried that if help was needed it would show as everyone supported the financing, well no more, and some are's had already started this, now it's gonna be individual billing when you need and folks think they'll be able to afford!

    •  TBH, if someone is doing something blatantly (0+ / 0-)

negligent behind the wheel, I wouldn't have a problem with charging them for first responders.

I'm not talking about you misjudge the distance to the stopped car and rear end someone, or don't see someone in your blind spot while changing lanes. Those are accidents even if they are your fault. I'm talking about cases where someone causes an accident because they're doing something egregiously wreckless like drinking and driving, texting and driving, excessive speeding, etc.

Or maybe they already do in the form of a ticket - I'm not sure what the standard protocol for that is because I've never done anything that stupid while driving.

    •  I'd be checking the really really tiny print in my (0+ / 0-)

auto insurance policy if I lived there.  I'm guessing it'll be right around Feb 28th when the "we don't cover that" addendum is slipped past everyone.

Also, I wonder how the same teabaggers who scream about having government anything shoved down their throats will like this new and improved Freedum!!!

It's their world, and now they're living in it.

If the NRA can't take a bite out of crime with 300 Million guns, why do they think having even more will help?
