and I'm sure all of this has been said above.

One: the show was an hour long. 42 minutes, really, after all the damn commercials. Not a lot of time to make the points that needed to be made.

Two: While it's "Cliffs Notes" for us (and for a book we've read time and time again), we are not the audience for this show. The people this was meant for were, well, everyone else. For us it was lightweight, superficial, and so forth. For them it was OMG time. They need the primer before they can go deep diving.

Three: How far do you think Maddow or anyone else can go on a mainstream, corporate-owned news network? If she made the documentary she could have made (and believe me, she knows how little her doc just scratched the surface), it would have been longer than "Shoah" and would never had made it to air.

I'm an amateur researcher. I'm currently researching the 2006 US Attorney purge, a much less complex and important topic than the push into Iraq. If someone asked me to make a 42-minute documentary about the topic, with interviews from David Iglesias, Bud Cummins, Georgia Thompson, John Conyers, Harriet Miers, Kyle Sampson, and others involved in the purge, I would probably have an aneurysm trying to prepare something that was short enough, understandable by the mainstream viewer who is, at best, glancingly familiar with the topic, and watchable enough to keep the less involved viewer from getting bored and switching to the Real Cabana Boys of K Street.

I'd love to see her go into the weeds with a follow-up documentary, or ten. But this was an excellent start. I won't complain.

This does push back, to a degree, those trying to re-write the Iraq war history.
