    to be "patriots" should be protesting in the streets and writing their legislators begging for laws mandating civics education in public and private schools.  We need a voting populace who know how government is supposed to work, understand what the Constitution does and does not mandate, learn a sense of a timeline and history with regard to our government over the past two and a quarter centuries, and possess a sense of citizenship that goes beyond allegiance to a flag.

    This would do way more to fix polarization in government, than anything having to do with political parties.

    And it would definitely ensure a reduction in the number of TEA party goons able to step into a voting booth with impunity.

    That's one more thing to add to my long list of small problems. --my son, age 10
